December 13

Today is the day after my first day back at work.  It is 6 am and I am the only one awake.  I had to stay up till midnight so Nicole could have milk and then get up a half hour ago to offer her some apple juice because after this there's no more food for awhile.  She has her sedation appointment this morning.

I am horribly nervous.  I hate sedation appointments.  I don't want to go into all the details of why I hate it cause I'm trying to block it from my mind.  I will deal with it when we get to the hospital.
All I pray for is that we get good news.  I pray I pray and I pray.  Is it ironic that today is St. Lucy's day? The patron saint of eyesight.  Oh I hope it is a sign.  Nicole has a little St. Lucy statue that was a gift and I hope and pray that she looks after my little girl and all of your little ones.  If you've read my post Glaucoma Saga you know why I think she's been watching over my baby.

I hear Nicole stirring.  Time to slowly get ready.  I will post an update.  But before I go I must tell you that the first day back at work went wonderful for the girls and their dad.  He finished patching at 10am!!! WHAT THE!!??? Good work!! They were fed, the dishes were done, the room tidy and I actually got a warm meal and a coffee at work.  So far so good!!

The Last Weekend

So, inevitably, this weekend has arrived.  The last weekend before I head back to work.  It's been a great year off with a lot of ups and downs.  This blog has helped me get through so much of it and linked me up with many wonderful people going through the same struggles.
Unfortunately, I can only predict that if the last few weeks are any indication, back to work will mean a retirement from the blog.  Time just seems to get away from me lately.
I will most definitely be diligently reading your blogs and keeping in touch with those of you on facebook.  I will also try to keep things updated with Nicole's progress which I hope will only continue to be positive!
We are currently baking cookies and gearing up for a sedation next week.  Wish us luck!!
Thank you everyone for sharing my year with me!!

Happy Halloween!

Today was a total pick me up! We decided against lens and patching today since we just wanted to enjoy the day without worrying about whether it was in or not.
The day started with playgroup for Lilia where all the kids dressed up and exchanged treats.  Is there anything cuter than 2 and 3 year old in costume! Priceless.
When we got home at 11:30am we had a mini get together with some of my girlfriends.  Lots of little ones and yummy food.  My wonderful hubby made us breakfast for lunch.  Does it get better??
Oh yes it does!!
Taking the kids out for trick or treating rounded out our day.  Nicole was very tired and was pretty much out of the game at the get go.  Then she took a header into the pavement and it was over from there.  And we hadn't even left the street yet.  LOL.
Lilia on the other hand was in her element.  She's been asking for weeks if it was Halloween.  We only visited the homes of people we knew and even with that she was asleep in the wagon before we got home.
We are all wiped out but in a much better place.  Especially since one of the treats Nicole got was money to go towards a contact lens!!  Aren't we lucky!?
Hope everyone had a wonderful day and a safe evening!

Oct 31 - Going out with the neighbors.  And tired of picture taking. LOL

We have set a record.
Lens lasted 12 days before it got rubbed out again.
I am feeling frustrated and down.
I am so very tired of looking for the impossible.
And if one more non-contact lens inserting into infant parent asks me how come I keep losing them I think I will explode.
That's all.
Guess I'll be putting in another call to the optical place.
Thankfully we have a spare right now.  Although I don't feel like doing any of it tomorrow.
But tomorrow is a new day.
