Hey that looks cool, let me see it.

  1. Hey there... don't ya just love sibling communication!!! Easton and Azalea are really starting to notice and play with each other more and more. It's a riot! I wanted to ask you... are you putting Nicole's contact in when she is sleeping in the crib? I have been swaddling Easton and using his bouncer chair. He is starting to out grow it though as you can imagine I won't be able to do it like that forever. When I lay him in the crib he gets out of his swaddle and usually lays on his stomach. When I turn him over he wiggles and swats at me, even while sleeping. Do you have any special crib techniques yet? I suppose I am going to have to develop a few of my own!!

  2. OMG the contact. It will be the death of me. I have had problems with it all week. Nicole's eye has been horribly red and inflamed and she's been irritable. I was chalking it up to teething but I finally was so exhausted I left the contact out and it cleared. Took it to the optical place to get looked at today and it looks fine. The guy gave it a good clean and she was ok with it today.
Techniques, I wish I could help. Right now I am getting Nicole asleep sometimes in my arms, sometimes in the crib. Either way when she falls asleep I put her down, go wash my hands, then transfer her to the change table. Fortunately she makes the transfer, for now. There I have a bright light which helps. She swats at me but I kinda just touch her lid for a little until she settles and then I stick it in. Not usually on the first go. Our crib has a high side which doesn't lower so I can't reach her well. I do reach over to do drops sometimes. I really wish I knew some better ways. Other moms have better luck with pinning and just getting it in. I usually get one chance and that's it. =( I don't know what I will do when she outgrows this nap or I go back to work. Maybe I'm just too much of a wuss and need to be a bit more aggressive. The optometrist today just grabbed her lids while she was wailing and clamping them shut and just waited for the moment she relaxed and stuck it in. But of course you need a second person to pin the poor baby down. Did I mention how much I truly hate this. =(

  3. Girl tell me about it... I just spent at least 10 min. trying to put it in, only after I can't even count how many attempts?! His eye is so misshapen than the shape of the contact is literally a cup. I cannot just slide it under his lid and in. It has to be almost placed right over his cornea and then messaged into place. Thank you for sharing your changing table technique though I hadn't thought of that... although at some point they will out grow that surface as well, ha. I have always just left him where he was... didn't think to move him to a better spot. Sometimes its the obvious things that you don't even think of!!! I have no one else to swap ideas with so that is why I stalk people's blogs. LOL Luckily we havn't had any irritated eye problems YET. Right now the only thing that is irritated on Easton is his poor lil bottom. I guess every mom has to deal with that issue though. :)

  5. Ok so I am weaning them off falling asleep with their bouncer chairs. Only use them for the am nap cuz that is how I put in Easton's contact. Well today they were just not liking the chairs, almost as if they have completely outgrown them. So I put em in the crib... Azalea fell asleep right away. Easton rolled around (that is what he wanted to do in the chair) for 5 min. then went to sleep. Here's the scary part... the contact! Shaky hands and all. Telling myself if you get it in great if not it's not the end of the world. I picked him up from lying on his stomach. Put him on the changing table, as you suggested. Swaddled his arms, he never even blinked an eye. Lightly messaged over his lid, pull open the eye. And it went in!!! Patch placement is a little off cuz I wasn't used to the position, but there is no removing that now. Thank you thank you thank you for encouraging me to move him to higher ground. My back doesn't hurt, it was easier, and the contact is in! I know tomorrow is a whole different day, but now I have the confidence. Good bye bouncer chairs! I had to share that with you... one small victory at a time! :)

  6. woohoo!! so very glad! We are on vacation now...survived an 8 hr flight, 2 hr stopover and then another 2 hr flight. See we can do anything we put our minds to! Patching was great here with so many people to entertain her. However, I only ever use 1 patch at home...came prepared with 3 for each day. That should be enough right? nope she used 5 today! The little bugger had just enough sweat on her that the rubbing got the patch off and now she konws she can get it off!! ugh. Just another day. =) Will try to update with pics now that we have the internet!
