So, inevitably, this weekend has arrived. The last weekend before I head back to work. It's been a great year off with a lot of ups and downs. This blog has helped me get through so much of it and linked me up with many wonderful people going through the same struggles.
Unfortunately, I can only predict that if the last few weeks are any indication, back to work will mean a retirement from the blog. Time just seems to get away from me lately.
I will most definitely be diligently reading your blogs and keeping in touch with those of you on facebook. I will also try to keep things updated with Nicole's progress which I hope will only continue to be positive!
We are currently baking cookies and gearing up for a sedation next week. Wish us luck!!
Thank you everyone for sharing my year with me!!
Awwwhhh tear... Good luck! I am sure it will be an adjustment in the beginning but you will make it work. You always do. I hear ya on somethings gonna have to give, ie. the blog. So so so glad we found each other and I will look forward to any update on Nicole and your family whenever you get the time to do so. Praying for good news always for her (and you)! Don't forget to take care of yourself.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the swaddle directions! Will definitely try it tomorrow morning as a matter of fact! ha. But your advise on just going in to get it done no matter what... is so true!!! Do you think there is a swaddle trick for legs?! It would be like putting a contact in a mummy... LOL But man those legs are a factor. I am looking forward to the day he just lays down with no swaddle and no fuss... what do you think, ever gonna happen?!
Thank you for such a sweet comment! My post was a disclaimer. =) I hope to keep it updated but who knows what will happen once I am getting up at 5am to go to work. Still deciding on if the lens will go in on the days Nicole is with my mom. I would have to wake her at 530am to put it in =( and I'm not sure I can ask my mom to patch and watch a 3 yr old. We'll see what the doc thinks on Tues.
ReplyDeleteFor sure you will not always have to swaddle. I am not kidding. It took about 2 months of swaddling her everyday but finally one day she just stopped fighting! IT WILL HAPPEN!! lol.
Good luck Karla...im amazed that you manage to keep a blog at all... I have considered doing it a few times over the last 10 months (since my son was born) but just can't seem to find the time.
ReplyDeleteThankyou so much for starting your blog. It's been such an AMAZING help to be able to read about your experiences...the highs and lows and the similarities of your experiences to my own.
Good luck in the next chapter of you journey and i will keep checking for updates from time to time.
My optomotrist has polaroid photo's on the wall of their reception of kids putting in own contacts and she insists that by about age four they want to do it themselves sooooo only 3 years to go for us. It's a tough journey at times but the rewards will be priceless.
Hello again! I worry about the same thing when I go back to work... I will have to leave early and wake Easton for his contact as well. Of course patching and contact spotting with anyone but us sounds like a nightmare. Sighhh... keep me posted on how it works out for you, it will just have to be an adjustment.
ReplyDeleteAs for your swaddle, it definitely works! I am going to keep using it. Thanks! I have been waiting for us to get used to this since I started my blog, that was almost 6 months ago, ha! It has gotten better for sure but still waiting for the fighting/resistance to stop... I don't blame him though, his contact lens is such a tough fit.
Amanda...so super glad the swaddle worked out!! I swear, I couldn't get near Nicole...after a couple months of the swaddle she just figured it out and knew it was part of the routine...and we don't swaddle anymore. Easton will most definitely get there!!
ReplyDeleteNatasha...thanks so much for the comment! I am sooo glad you liked the blog. You should totally try to start one...I felt like it took a load off to write about things here and know there are so many others in the same boat as me...if you do start one make sure you let me know!! =) So 3 more years huh?? I wonder if those polaroids are like the pics of kids at our clinic...babies all smiles while patching....hahahah...as if!!
